Call congress and tell them to

SAY “NO” TO A HISTORIC EXPANSION IN POLICE FUNDING

For decades, the United States has invested billions into overfunding police and mass incarceration even as these institutions have continued to disproportionately harm Black, brown and poor communities without making us safer. Now Congress is considering bills that would give over $10 billion additional dollars - more than doubling their current investments - to the same broken and discriminatory policing systems that brought us here in the first place.

Real public safety comes from using evidence-based approaches that work to solve the problems of crime, violence and poverty at their root: housing, violence interruption, early childhood support, mental health, and trauma recovery - to name a few. We won’t get there by doubling down on criminalization and incarceration.

Call your Member of Congress and urge them to say “NO” to two bills - “COPS on the Beat” and “Invest to Protect” legislation - and invest instead in strategies that work to make our communities safe.

Hi, my name is _________________ and I’m your constituent from _________________.

I’m calling to ask you to oppose COPS on the Beat and Invest to Protect, two bills that funnel billions more federal dollars to police in spite of the overwhelming evidence indicating that policing and incarceration are ineffective tools for increasing community safety.  My community needs funding for [choose something most important to you: affordable housing, mental healthcare, money for schools etc] not billions more for police!

Thank you for investing in our communities, not criminalization!
